Time to start detailing the scales on the fish. Fish look sleek and shiny, like bullets. When I paint fish, I try add some sheen to them.

Part 1 – Dragon Fish
PaintingsDid you know that koi fish can sell for >$1 million in Japan? It’s not surprising. These are easily the most beautiful members of the carp family. Going by what I’ve read about ancient Japanese folklore, koi fish could transform into dragons, as evidenced by the “whiskers” on their faces.
Plus, they remind me of the beloved pet goldfish that I had in Kindergarten! Whether they’re sharks or koi, I’m a sucker for fish. Simply amazing creatures that come in a variety of colors, sizes, and shapes, almost like underwater birds. A fish’s intelligence and cognition are very impressive, too.

Dragon Fish
Paintings
It’s said, in some Japanese folklore, that the koi fish can transform into a dragon. Given the dragon-like whiskers and tails on these fish, it makes sense.
I could use these creatures in my own backyard pond.
