Time to start detailing the scales on the fish. Fish look sleek and shiny, like bullets. When I paint fish, I try add some sheen to them.

The Treasure at the Top – Part 3
PaintingsNow, we start working on those waterfalls some more. When I’m trying to paint an object in motion, such as the water in these falls, I try to drag my paintbrush in the direction that the motion is. That way, it gives a sense of flow to the picture.
Walter the Saxophonist (MORE PROGRESS)
Sketches

You haven’t heard jazz until you’ve heard a sea monster fish play a sax…

Sketches

More progress on this short!
Walter the Saxophonist
Sketches

This isn’t just about a freakishly huge shark who plays a giant saxophone like a boss. This is an animated short that I’m working on.
I’ll keep you folks posted.
Riding on Top of Charlie the Magic Carp
Illustrations

Did you know that, with the koi fish, there’s a waterfall motif that represents the majesty and strength of this carp? That’s kinda what I was going for with this picture.
What do Charlie’s magical bubbles do? A comic might reveal that…
Riding on Stanley the Giant Shark
Illustrations

Hmm, how did these otters end up so far down the sea? And, why is this humongous Meg shark with a necktie helping them out?
(I’m working on a comic storyline, and this artwork is part of it! More details to come)
Riding on Stanley
Sketches
Imagine riding on a monobrowed battleship the size of a mountain. That’s pretty much what it’s like riding on Stanley. Thousands upon thousands of tons of pure muscle (and fat), yet deceptively fast speeds in the water… Quite a formidable shark!
When making these sketches, I sometimes close my eyes to envision the picture in my mind. Makes it easier for me to decide on the perspective and the composition of each object, character, etc in the picture.
Riding on Charlie
Sketches
Charlie is nowhere near as huge and heavy and Ed, being a koi fish. But, riding him is an experience like no other! This (soon-to-be) bright and colorful koi fish has no problem swimming in any lake, even if they’re near nuclear power plants!
On a side note, when I sketch out my drawings, I often use harder pencils like 2H. This way, I don’t smudge the paper as much while I’m drawing.
Wallace Big-Tooth
Illustrations
The least chunky Big-Tooth, but still flippin’ huge. Despite his size, Wallace is a bit of a worrywart. He doesn’t have the self-confidence (or arrogance) of his 2 siblings, especially Walter.
